Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 29-year-old Travis Green of Cheektowaga has been arraigned by Cheektowaga Town Justice Dennis T. Gorski on the charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Unlawfully Wearing of Body Armor and Resisting Arrest.

It is alleged that on November 14, 2017, at around 2:30 p.m., the defendant entered the Dollar General store off Union Road in Cheektowaga requesting an employment application when he became irate, left the store, and then fired approximately 20 rounds with an AR-15 rifle at the store from the parking lot.

One customer was struck by the gunfire and was treated at a hospital. Police say they found another weapon, also an AR-15 rifle in the defendant’s vehicle.

Green pleaded not guilty and was remanded to jail without bail.

If convicted of the charges, the defendant could face a maximum of 25 years in state prison.

DA Flynn commends the quick work of the Cheektowaga Police Department in apprehending the suspect.

Assistant District Attorney Ryan D. Haggerty of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Bureau is prosecuting the case.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
