Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 44-year-old Francesco Maccarrone of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns to 5 years of probation. He is required to register as a Level 1 sex offender.

The defendant admitted that while in the City of Buffalo, he sent sexually explicit messages to an underage female victim in December 2018. At the time of the incident, the defendant was a coach for a girls’ basketball and soccer teams.

Maccarrone pleaded guilty to one count of Disseminating Indecent Material to Minors in the First Degree, a Class “D” felony, in March 2019. The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest possible charge.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Katharine S. Lavin of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
