Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces his candidacy for President-Elect of the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA). Flynn officially made the announcement on Friday evening at the NDAA Spring Conference in Savannah, Georgia. It was the organization’s first in-person meeting held in over a year.

The National District Attorneys Association is a national, non-partisan non-profit membership association that provides training, technical assistance and services to prosecutors. Founded in 1950, the organization is the oldest and largest association of prosecutors in the country. Their mission is to be the voice of America’s prosecutors and to support their efforts to protect the rights and safety of the people by providing members with the knowledge, skills, and support to ensure justice is attained. The President-Elect serves directly under the President of the organization for one year then automatically becomes President of the organization in 2022.

Members will vote on leadership at the upcoming NDAA Summer Summit that will be held the weekend of July 19 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Topics to be discussed at this year’s conference include “Strategies to Address Violent Crime” and “Advancing Diversionary and Alternative Disposition Programming.”

“It is my honor to be considered to lead this great organization. If elected, I Iook forward to representing our nation’s prosecutors and having a voice in criminal justice issues,” said Erie County DA John Flynn.

Flynn, who is serving his second term as the 41st District Attorney in Erie County, New York, is currently a Vice President of the NDAA. He also leads the organization’s Metro Section, which represents District Attorneys in major cities across the country. Flynn is currently the 2nd Vice President of the District Attorneys Association of New York (DAASNY).
