Defendant Pleads Guilty for Fatally Shooting Victim on Halloween in City's Kensington-Bailey Neighborhood

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 22-year-old Odell Malik Wilkins, also known as “Leek,” of Buffalo pleaded guilty on Tuesday afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony).

On Saturday, October 31, 2020, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the defendant shot the victim in the vicinity of Bickford Avenue and Alice Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 22-year-old Patrick C. Kent, died from his injuries.

Wilkins faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. He continues to be held without bail.

DA Flynn commends Detective Christopher Pliszka and Detective Raymond Krug of the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Gary W. Hackbush of the Homicide Bureau.
