DNA Evidence Leads to Indictment of Suspected Northtowns Serial Burglar

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 19-year-old Emmanuel Rosado of Amherst was virtually arraigned today before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller on two counts of Burglary in the Third Degree, Class “D” felonies, and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, a Class “E” felony.

It is alleged that between the late evening of March 31, 2020 and early morning hours of April 1, 2020, the defendant knowingly and unlawfully entered a building on the 8300 block of Main Street in Clarence with the intent to commit a crime. In the morning, the business owner found that the building had been ransacked, two computers were damaged, and a printer had been thrown through a window. A television monitor and cash were reported missing.

It is alleged that between the late evening of April 1, 2020 and early morning hours of April 2, 2020, the defendant knowingly and unlawfully entered a building on the 2800 block of Wehrle Drive in Lancaster by climbing through a window with the intent to commit a crime. A digital picture frame was reported missing from the business.

Evidence collected at both crime scenes matched a known DNA profile for the defendant.

Rosado is scheduled to return on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference.

If convicted on all charges, Rosado faces a maximum of 7 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Lancaster Police Department and the New York State Police for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brian D. Langenfeld of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Unit and Assistant District Attorney Ryan M. Flaherty of the DA's Felony Trials Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
