Driver Charged with Assault for Hitting Two Pedestrians

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 31-year-old Vinnicia Vance-Ivey of Buffalo has been arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio on two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, Class “D” felonies, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class “A” misdemeanor.

It is alleged that on Saturday, March 30, at approximately 7:52 p.m., the defendant, while driving a SUV, swerved onto the sidewalk and hit two men with her vehicle on Northland Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

Both men were taken to ECMC to be treated for their injuries.

Vance-Ivey is scheduled to return on Wednesday, April 10 at 2 p.m. for a felony hearing. She was released on her own recognizance.

If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of 7 years in prison.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
