Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 26-year-old Najeeb Shabazz Jackson of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan to 3 ½ years in state prison and 5 years post release supervision.

On Sunday, August 4, 2019, at approximately 4:20 a.m., the defendant intentionally drove his vehicle into the entrance of “Bottoms Up,” a nightclub located on West Chippewa Street in the City of Buffalo. Two individuals were hit by the vehicle and suffered injuries.

Jackson pleaded guilty to two counts of Attempted Assault in the First Degree (Class “C” violent felonies) on March 22, 2021. The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges on the day his jury trial was set to commence.

DA Flynn commends Detectives John Losi and Joseph Bonner of the Buffalo Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Paul J. Glascott and Assistant District Attorney Christopher M. McCarthy of the DA’s Vehicular Crimes Bureau.
