Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 20-year-old Jake Klocek of East Aurora has been arraigned before Erie County Court Judge Michael Pietruszka on an indictment charging him with Manslaughter in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

It is alleged that on November 6, 2016, at 101 Dorris Drive in Elma, the defendant, who was 19-years-old at the time, recklessly caused the death of 19-year-old Anthony King of Elma by shooting him.

The defendant, who pleaded not guilty, remains free on $50,000 bail.

If convicted, defendant faces a maximum indeterminate sentence of 5-15 years in state prison.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of the Erie County Sheriff’s Department including Senior Detective John Graham, Detectives Jonathan Hanna, Shaun Hediger and Matthew Noecker.

Chief Colleen Curtin Gable of the DA’s Homicide Bureau is prosecuting the case.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
