Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 36-year-old Keenan J. Redmon of Buffalo pleaded guilty yesterday afternoon before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges to one count of Assault in the Third Degree, one count of Menacing in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanors). The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.

On July 22, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the defendant subjected a female victim to physical contact by forcibly grabbing the back of her neck. The incident occurred at a restaurant on Hertel Avenue in the City of Buffalo.

On the late evening of August 26, 2021 and into the early morning hours of August 27, 2021, the defendant forced the same female victim into a bathroom and brandished what appeared to be a pistol while threatening the victim. The incident occurred while the defendant was unlawfully inside the victim’s home in the City of Buffalo.

The defendant, a police officer who was off-duty at the time of both incidents, resigned from the Buffalo Police Department yesterday morning.

Redmon faces a maximum of one year in jail when he is sentenced on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. He continues to remain released on his own recognizance as the charges are non-qualifying offenses for bail.

An order of protection remains in effect on behalf of the victim.
