Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 56-year-old William Gajewski of Amherst has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to 6 months in jail followed by 5 years probation.

Gajewski also admitted to forging documents for false expenses to support checks that he deposited into his personal bank account.

In May 2018, the defendant pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Second Degree and Forgery in the Second Degree. He has paid full restitution.

In addition to his sentence, Gajewski must pay $10,000 in fines and serve 1,000 hours of community service.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Detective John Payne of the Orchard Park Police Department and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.

This case was prosecuted by Chief Candace K. Vogel and Assistant District Attorney Gary M. Ertel of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau.
