Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 23-year-old Sammy Abdellatif and 22-year-old Brittany Ashley-Graser, both of Grand Island have pleaded guilty before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case for an attack on an Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy. 

Abdellatif pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. Ashley-Graser pleaded guilty to Assault in the Second Degree. 

On August 24, 2016, while acting in concert, Abdellatif and Ashley-Graser did intentionally attempt to cause the death of Deputy Jason Clark by choking him. Deputy Clark at the time of the incident was a police officer engaged in the course of performing his official duties. 

Abdellatif faces 25 years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Case on October 24, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. 

Ashley-Graser faces 7 years in prison when she is sentenced by Judge Case on October 31, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. 

DA Flynn commends Erie County Sheriff’s Senior Detectives John Graham and Gregory McCarthy for their thorough investigative work. 

Deputy District Attorney for Litigation Joseph A. Agro and Assistant District Attorney Nathanael C. Kapperman are prosecuting the case.
