Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 54-year-old Mary Talbot of Cheektowaga has been sentenced to five years probation by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth F. Case for stealing money from an 82-year-old West Seneca woman.

In April, Talbot pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and five counts of Forgery in the Second Degree.

From January 2015 to May 2016, the defendant, who was the victim’s home health care aide, stole $41,590 by forging the woman’s checks, making them payable to herself and then cashing them.

Talbot, who is in counseling for a gambling addiction, has already paid $18, 700 in restitution and has been ordered to pay the victim $350 a month until June of 2022.

DA Flynn credits West Seneca Police Detective Ken Moreno for his thorough investigative work.

Chief Candace K. Vogel of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau prosecuted the case.
