Jury Finds Amherst Man Guilty in May Street Murder

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that a jury has found 26-year-old Dydisci Martin of Town Amherst guilty of one count of Murder in the Second Degree.

The defendant was found guilty of the only charge in the indictment against him following a two week trial. Jurors rendered their verdict on Friday afternoon after one hour of deliberations.

On July 28, 2017, the defendant fatally shot his roommate’s boyfriend, 48-year-old Leon “Bruno” Nelson, Jr. of Buffalo, and hid the body in the basement of the home on May Street in the City of Buffalo.

Martin faces 25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced by Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. The defendant remains remanded without bail.

DA Flynn commends the thorough investigative work by the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad, including Det. Joy Jermain, Det. Patty Wrest and Det. Sgt. Carl Lundin.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brian D. Langenfeld of the DA’s Felony Trial Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Justin T. Wallens of the DA’s Tactical Prosecution Unit.
