Registered Sex Offender Sentenced for Sexually Abusing Juvenile Victim

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 32-year-old Lavon Dean of Cheektowaga has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to a determinate sentence of 5 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.

On December 7, 2018, the defendant subjected a juvenile female victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion at a location in the Town of Cheektowaga. The defendant, who was registered as a sex offender at the time of the crime, was known to the victim.

Dean pleaded guilty to one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class “D” violent felony, on January 15, 2020.

DA Flynn commends Detective Hockwater of the Cheektowaga Police Department for his work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Louis Mussari of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Unit, Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Fioravanti of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Cathleen Roemer of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau.
