Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 47-year-old Jose Gonzalez pleaded guilty before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case to one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. The defendant pleaded guilty to the highest count in the indictment.

On October 21, 2016, Buffalo Police executed a search warrant in the lower apartment of a home on Sayre Avenue. Once inside, investigators found a loaded 40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, a semi-automatic rifle, small amounts of cocaine, diazepam, and marijuana, in addition to scales and packaging materials. Also, police found marijuana plants growing in the kitchen.

Gonzalez faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on Thursday, July 5 at 9:30 a.m. 

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of the Buffalo Police Department Narcotics Unit.

Assistant District Attorney James M. Marra and Rachel Kranitz McPhee of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau prosecuted the case.
