Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 46-year-old Rhonda Henderson of Buffalo pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to one count of Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree, a Class “E” felony, one count of Identity Theft in the First Degree, a Class “D” felony, three counts of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Class “D” felonies, and two counts of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Class “E” felonies. In total, the defendant stole more than $55,500 from the victims, all of whom were over the age of 90.

The defendant used multiple different modes of theft to steal from the victims, including check diversions, unauthorized use of two of the victims’ debit cards, and the misappropriation of one of the victim’s Preneed Funeral Trust account after she passed away.

Henderson faces a maximum of 36 years in prison when she is sentenced on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christopher P. Jurusik of the DA’s Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau.
