Teen Charged in Shooting Near North Buffalo Community Center That Killed One, Injured Two Others

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 18-year-old Josue Bermudez of Buffalo has been arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio on one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A” felony.

It is alleged that on March 8, 2019, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the defendant fatally shot 17-year-old Deron Allen in the vicinity of the North Buffalo Community Center on Sanders Road in the City of Buffalo. Two other teenagers were injured by gunfire, but have recovered from their injuries.

Bermudez is scheduled to return on Thursday, April 4 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was remanded without bail. 

If convicted on the charge, he faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work by the Buffalo Police Department, including Detective Sgt. Carl Lundin, Detective Adam Stephany and Detective Joy Jermain.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ashley M. Morgan of the DA’s Homicide Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
