Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 19-year-old Areyona Favors of Buffalo pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” felony.

The defendant admitted that on Friday, August 17, 2018, at approximately 11 p.m., she stabbed 21-year-old NaKara Morgan of Buffalo multiple times at a house party on Schreck Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim later died from her injuries at ECMC.

Favors faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when she is sentenced on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. She remains remanded without bail.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of the Buffalo Police Department, including Det. Scott Malec of the Homicide Squad.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Christopher Safulko of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau.
