Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 18-year-old Damoni Alexander of Buffalo has been sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to a determinate sentence of 25 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.

Shortly after midnight on September 29, 2018, the defendant fatally shot 20-year-old Brandon Williams on Lisbon Avenue in the City of Buffalo. While Alexander admitted to pulling the trigger, his co-defendant, 19-year-old Anthony Moore, provided the defendant with the illegal gun and told him to shoot the victim during a verbal altercation.

Alexander pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class “B” violent felony, on March 27, 2019. Moore also pleaded guilty to the same charge for his role in the crime on August 23, 2019.

DA Flynn commends the investigative work of Det. Mark White, Det. Scott Malec and Det. Dawn Lopez of the Buffalo Police Homicide Squad.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eugene T. Partridge, III of the DA’s Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Rachel L. Newton of the DA’s Felony Trials Bureau.
