Tonawanda Dentist Pleads Guilty to Attempted Forcible Touching of Female Patient

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 74-year-old Tiberiu V. Sfintescu, also known as Vali Sfintescu, of Williamsville pleaded guilty this morning before Town of Tonawanda Court Justice Daniel T. Cavarello to one count of Attempted Forcible Touching (Class “B” misdemeanor).

On May 27, 2020, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the defendant attempted to forcibly touch the intimate parts of a female patient during an appointment at his dental office on Greenhaven Terrace in the Town of Tonawanda.

Sfintescu faces a maximum of 90 days in jail when he is sentenced on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. He remains released on his own recognizance.

As part of the plea, the defendant sold his dental practice and voluntarily surrendered his license to practice dentistry in New York State. A temporary order of protection remains in place for the victim.

DA Flynn commends the Town of Tonawanda Police Department for their work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rachel Kranitz McPhee of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.
