Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 35-year-old Nicholas B. Turnquist of West Falls was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges on an indictment charging him with three counts of Rape in the Third Degree (Class “E” felonies).

The defendant is accused of engaged in sexual intercourse with a victim who was less than 17-years-old at locations in the Town of Aurora in 2014.

Turnquist is scheduled to return on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. for motions. He continues to remain held without bail.

If convicted on all charges, Turnquist faces a maximum of 12 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends Detective Darren Longboat of the East Aurora Police Department for his work in the investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine M. Garvey of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
