West Seneca Man Pleads Guilty for Sexual Abuse of Child

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 53-year-old Robert S. Riggs of West Seneca pleaded guilty last week before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges to one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (Class “D” felony). The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge on July 7, 2022.

Between December 1, 2010 and January 31, 2011, the defendant subjected the juvenile victim to sexual contact by forcible compulsion. The crime occurred at a location in the Town of West Seneca.

Riggs faces a maximum of 7 years in prison when he is sentenced on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. He was released on his own recognizance.  

A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

DA Flynn commends Assistant Chief William Leitzel of the West Seneca Police Department for his work in the investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rachel Kranitz McPhee of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.
