Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon joined local officials to kick off the grand opening of the Shoreline bike path in Lackawanna Monday morning.

Completed in just 5 months, the trail runs along the former Bethlehem Steel property and is 1.5 mile extension from where the current trail ends at the Union Ship Canal. The estimated cost was close to $1 million.

“The new bike path is one step forward in bringing life back to the former Bethlehem Steel site and enhancing our community,” said Legislator Dixon. “I’d like to thank all who made this project a reality. I look forward to continuing the great progress we’ve made to redevelop this underutilized space to create a vibrant industrial park.”
