During last Thursday’s session, Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon honored Father Joseph Bayne for his years of service to the Western New York community.

Father Bayne served as Chaplain of the Buffalo Fire Department and Erie County Emergency Services. He also opened a Franciscan youth center in Buffalo in 1989, where he served as Executive Director and provided guidance for young men who were homeless or runaways.

“Father Bayne has done outstanding work in this community, from his efforts with underprivileged youth to serving as Chaplain of Erie County Emergency Services and the Buffalo Fire Department,” said Legislator Dixon. “He has provided on-site support to first responders during times of crisis, including 9/11 and the crash of Flight 3407. On behalf of Western New York, I wish him the best of luck as he moves on to his next chapter of service in Massachusetts.”
