Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon is partnering with Rite Aid Pharmacy and the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce to host a Free Community Flu Clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Blasdell Farmers Market, located at the Lake Street Plaza, 4271 Lake Ave., Blasdell.

“This is a great time of year to visit the Blasdell Farmers Market for fresh produce and local products, and while you are enjoying your shopping, stop and get a quick and easy flu shot thanks to Rite Aid. Taking the time now to get vaccinated can help protect you against influenza during the winter months. This free Community Free Clinic makes it easy to check this off your ‘to do list.’ Many thanks to Rite Aid for offering this service at the Farmer’s Market,” said Legislator Dixon.

Each year, the County Department of Health advises residents to get a flu vaccine. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at high risk for serious flu complications.

This is your last chance of the season to shop the Blasdell Farmers Market, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit www.hamburg-chamber.org/explore-hamburg/farmers-market.
