Lackawanna heroes named Legislature’s Citizens of the Month for October

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon is pleased to announce that Lackawanna residents, Jack Pirowski, his son, Zachary Pirowski, and Robert and Carmen Lowe have been named the October 2013 Citizens of the Month in recognition of their heroic actions during a recent fire. The four are credited with running to a Center Street apartment complex the night of Oct. 16 and saving seven of their neighbors who were trapped on a ledge by the flames.

November 2013 Column - Budget season is upon us

It's that time of year, when all the little ghosts and goblins come knocking at the door.  I always enjoy seeing all the little ones in their Halloween costumes. With trick-or-treating now almost behind us, it also signals another season underway in the Erie County Legislature:  budget time

Legislator Dixon announces County to receive Homeland Security grant, complete upgrades to 911 system

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon announces that the Public Safety Committee, of which she is a member, approved the acceptance of a New York State grant to complete upgrades to the county’s 911 system. The Public Safety Answering Point Consolidation, Improvement and Enhancement Grant totals $967,981 and will pay for the third and final phase to enhance dispatch centers to the Next Gen 911 system.

Legislator Dixon announces District Outreach Meetings at Lackawanna Senior Center, Seaway Trail Center

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon will host two upcoming District Outreach Meetings to answer questions and discuss issues. Both meetings will be held on Friday, Sept. 13 with the first meeting in Lackawanna followed by an afternoon meeting in Hamburg.

Railway Relocation Project Revitalizes Bethlehem Steel Site

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz was joined by NYS Lieutenant Governor Robert J. Duffy, NYS Senator Timothy Kennedy (D-63rd District), NYS Assemblymember Sean Ryan (D-149th District), Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon, National Grid Regional Director Dennis Elsenbeck, and representatives from area railways and industries as he announced the completion of the Rail Relocation Project at the former Bethlehem Steel site in Lackawanna.
