Erie County supports legalization of Mixed Martial Arts, premier contests would boost economy greatly

Members of the Erie County Legislature have joined elected officials across New York State who support legalizing Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to allow this popular full-contact combat sport to host professional contests within the state. Currently, New York is the only state in the nation that bans professional MMA.

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon and Urban Valet Dry Cleaners held the 6th annual Free Prom Dress Shopping Days on April 18 and 19 at Performing Arts Dance Academy in Hamburg. Hundreds of girls went home with a free gown for prom.

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon reminds local high school girls that the Free Prom Dress Shopping Days will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 18 and from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19 at Performing Arts Dance Academy, 206 Lake St., Hamburg.

Legislator Dixon announces space available for June 8-9 Boater Safety Course

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon in partnership with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office will hold a free Boater Safety Course that allows boaters to meet the requirements of a new New York State law that took effect in 2014. 

County Legislators, Meals on Wheels kickoff National Volunteer Month

Members of the Erie County Legislature’s Majority Caucus kicked off National Volunteer Month by joining dedicated Meals on Wheels volunteers on their routes to deliver to those in need. The home meal delivery program wouldn’t be possible without its hundreds of volunteers.
