Legislator Dixon’s informational meeting on opioid, heroin epidemic lays out immediate issues that need to be addressed

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon, Chairwoman of the Health and Human Services Committee, led an important discussion on Thursday to address the growing heroin and opioid epidemic facing the community. As a result, the Legislature will continue to work with the Health Department, Sheriff’s Office, local residents and experts in the private sector to address many of the issues raised.

Legislator Dixon installed for new term

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon was sworn-in to another term in office during the Erie County Legislature’s reorganizational meeting held Jan. 7, 2016 in Legislative Chambers. Erie County Court Judge Ken Case presided over the swearing in ceremony.

Legislator Dixon announces county takes another step in redeveloping Bethlehem Steel

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon announces that the Legislature approved a resolution at the Dec. 17, 2015 session in support of rehabilitating the former Bethlehem Steel site. The resolution allocates funding to improve the site’s infrastructure and railway system, which is necessary to make it suitable for new business.

Legislator Dixon announces HEAP Outreaches in Lackawanna, South Buffalo & Hamburg

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon announces that a Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Outreach will be held Monday, Dec. 14 at the Willie Cotton Center, 52 Gates Ave., Lackawanna. Interviews will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Doors open at 8:30am.  All applicants will be interviewed.   

Legislator Dixon requests additional funding for WNY United to address rising drugs problems

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon has secured $2,500 for WNY United Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse in the 2016 Erie County budget. The Legislature approved the funding at today’s annual Budget Meeting to support WNY United’s efforts to increase awareness, educate and mobilize a broad cross-section of individuals and groups to participate actively in proven strategies to prevent substance abuse.
