Towns in Erie County, New York

  • Valuation Date July 1st of the prior year
    • Real property price level for the assessment cycle is frozen as of this date
  • Taxable Status Date March 1st
    • The ownership and physical condition of real property as of this date are assessed according to the price fixed as of the valuation date
  • Exemption Filing Deadline March 1st
    • All applications for property exemptions, including STAR, must be filed with the Assessor
  • May 1st Filing of the Tentative Assessment Roll
    • Assessor completes, certifies and files a roll containing proposed assessed values for each property in the assessing unit
  • 4th Tuesday in May is Grievance Day
    • Board of Assessment Review meets to hear assessment complaints
  • July 1st - Filing of the Final Assessment Roll
    • Assessor signs and files a roll that contains the final assessments, including all changes
  • Important Information: Small Claims and Tax Certiorari filing (Article VII) are due 30 days from filing of the Final Assessment Roll
