 SALARY:                          $43,006-$55,652   (CSEA Job Group 9)

*Please note that this position is a competitive civil service title and will require a civil service examination in the future.  After the exam, selection for permanent appointment(s)will be made from reachable candidate(s) on the eligible list according to the NYS Civil Service Rule of Three.

CHIEF PRINCIPAL CLERK supervises and participates in departmental clerical work and performing complex clerical duties. The incumbent supervises and performs complex and confidential clerical and paraprofessional duties to support the administrative, financial and human resources functions of a department. Work is performed under the direct supervision of an administrative employee of higher rank. Supervision is exercised over a number of subordinate clerical employees within a department or section, assigning and reviewing work for accuracy and completeness. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) years of office clerical experience.

NOTE: Additional office clerical experience, beyond the six (6) year requirement, may be substituted for high school graduation on a year for year basis; and completion of a post-high school secretarial course, of at least one (1) year duration, may be substituted for one (1) year of the required office clerical experience.

NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements
