Residence Requirements:

THIS EXAMINATION IS OPEN TO ALL QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES OF THE ERIE COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER CORPORATION. There is one vacancy.

The eligible list resulting from this examination will not supersede currently existing promotional eligible lists for this title, if any. The duration of all promotional eligible lists is four years from date of establishment unless otherwise indicated.

Examples of Duties:

Director of Imaging Services plans, develops, coordinates and supervises the Imaging Department and related services that include diagnostic imaging, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound and nuclear medicine at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation;

Directs the activities of technical and support staff and operations for the Imaging Department and related services;

Develops and implements goals and objectives, policies and procedures for department operation; maintains department policies and procedures;

Manages regulatory compliance tasks, quality assurance, process improvement and quality improvement programs in accordance with laws, regulations, accreditation agency standards and ECMCC policies and procedures;

Monitors and evaluates department performance; collaborates with ECMCC personnel and business partners to develop and implement initiatives for new services, enhancement of current services and create additional forms of revenue;

Assists in the development of operational and capital budgets; monitors budget performance against allocated funds;

Manages the hiring, promotion, discipline and discharge of personnel; monitors staffing to maintain appropriate personnel levels; participates in the selection of competency indicators and ensures completion of competencies;

Develops and administers professional development initiatives for personnel such as in-service training sessions and conferences;

Meets with vendors to discuss existing and new industry related products and related procedures and educates staff on some;

Evaluates physical condition of equipment and supply quantities; purchases technical equipment and supplies;

Acts as an educational resource and provides consultation to medical, nursing and administrative staff;

Participates in and organizes meetings and committees.

Qualifications:

QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE FOR TAKING THE TEST: Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class and must be serving and have served continuously on a permanent or contingent permanent basis in the competitive class for 12 months immediately preceding the date of the written test in the position of Assistant Director of Imaging Services

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Radiologic Technologist as issued by the New York State Department of Health at time of appointment; and

Possession of an American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Certification at time of appointment; and

Possession of a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification as issued by the American Red Cross at time of appointment.

The New York State Department of Civil Service has not prepared a test guide for this examination. 

 

Subjects of Examination:

SUBJECT OF EXAMINATION: The only subject of examination will be an evaluation of your training and experience. You are therefore, asked to include in your application a summary of all pertinent training and experience in sufficient detail so that your background may be evaluated against the duties of the position.

In your summary of training include all college course work, formal in-service training, and seminars you have attended. You must specify either the number of credits received or the number of contact hours and dates of attendance. Also include a copy of your professional license. Specify the date that your license was first issued.

In your summary of experience, you must specify the dates of your employment, the number of hours worked per week, your title, and the main duties for each. Be specific; vagueness and ambiguity will NOT be resolved in your favor. Candidates who submit incomplete applications or documentation may be disqualified.

INFORMATION FOR PROMOTION CANDIDATES

Unless otherwise indicated, the eligible list resulting from this examination will have a duration of four years and will not supersede existing promotional lists, if any.

RATINGS REQUIRED:  Test is rated on a scale of 100 with a passing mark at 70.  Test instructions may further divide the tests into parts and set minimum standards for each part.

Points will be added to scores of candidates who achieve a passing mark as follows: Seniority:  For each year of service in the classified service:
