Registered Nurse Renal Hemodialysis Data Reviewer

Residence Requirements:

THERE ARE NO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THIS EXAMINATION. There is one anticipated vacancy at the Erie County Medical Center.

The eligible list resulting from this examination will not supersede currently existing promotional eligible lists for this title, if any. The duration of all promotional eligible lists is four years from date of establishment unless otherwise indicated.


Examples of Duties:

Registered Nurse Renal/Hemodialysis Data Reviewer collecting medical data for mandatory submission to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Joint Commission, as well as obligations with third party payers, for Renal Services and Hemodialysis at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation;

Reviews data submission reports making necessary corrections to ensure data completeness and submission by the specified deadline to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;

Obtains records from Health Information Management Department for final data collections and verification;

Enters and maintains data in internal and external databases to facilitate retrieval of data and regulatory compliance;

Completes concurrent performance improvement data collection for the hospital quality measures consistent with regulatory and contractual obligations;

Collaborates with management to education staff on quality measures, prompt required action, necessary supportive documentation and to identify care priorities and ensure timely implementation;

Refers compliance problems to appropriate supervisory staff and Patient Safety Officer;

Maintains current knowledge of the hospital data comparison requirements of the regulatory agencies and contractual obligations with the third party payers; notifies Patient Safety Officer and hospital leadership of revised and emerging requirements;

Identifies priorities for improvement based on observation and performance data; assists in developing and implementing improvement actions;

Maintains internal audits as per regulatory requirements;

Assist in preparing reports;

Participates in hospital performance improvement activities.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Candidates must meet the following requirements on or before the July 1, 2019:

A.     Graduation from an accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and three years of current registered professional nursing experience in medical/surgical or critical care, one year of which included renal or transplant services experience; or

B.     Graduation from a recognized school of professional nursing and seven years of current registered professional nursing experience in medical/surgical or critical care, one year of which included renal or transplant services experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York at the time of appointment.

Notes:

1.  Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.

2. Your degree and/or college credit must have been awarded by a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the New York State Education Department as following acceptable educational practices. A grade of "D" or better is necessary for a course to be credited as successfully completed. If your degree and/or college credit was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. You can write to this Department for a list of acceptable companies providing this service; you must pay the required evaluation fee.

The New York State Department of Civil Service has not prepared a test guide for this examination.

Subjects of Examination:

The only subject of examination will be an evaluation of your training and experience. You are, therefore, asked to include in your application a summary of all pertinent training and experience in sufficient detail so that your background may be evaluated against the duties of the position.

In your summary of training include all college course work, formal in-service training, and seminars you have attended. You must specify either the number of credits received or the number of contact hours and dates of attendance. Also include a copy of your professional license or documentation indicating eligibility for licensure. Specify the date that your license was first issued.

In your summary of experience, you must specify the dates of your employment, the number of hours worked per week, your title, and the main duties for each. Be specific; vagueness and ambiguity will NOT be resolved in your favor. Candidates who submit incomplete applications or documentation may be disqualified.
