THIS EXAMINATION IS OPEN TO ALL QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES OF ERIE COMMUNITY COLLEGE. At present there is one vacancy.
Examples of Duties:
A Senior Offset Machine Operator is responsible for operating offset type printing machines and other related equipment in the reproduction of a variety of office forms, charts, reports and other printed material;
Receives requisitions for printing work such as forms, pamphlets, reports, bulletins, and other related material; Plans and lays out work schedules, corrects proof, processes offset plates; Operates a cylinder or offset machine of the multi-lith or davidson type that may include multicolor processes; Estimates and cuts paper; binds; binds printed material; Operates a punching, stitching, padding, cutting, folding or other related machines; Maintains and makes adjustments to machines and equipment; keeps equipment clean; prepares reports of work performed; Supervises the work and inspects the performance of a small number of offset machine operators and assigns clerical help, making work assignments and giving technical work guidance and instruction.Qualifications:
QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE FOR TAKING THE TEST: Candidates must be permanently employed in the competitive class and must be serving and have served continuously on a permanent or contingent permanent basis in the competitive class for 12 months immediately preceding the date of the written test in the position of Offset Machine Operator.

Subjects of Examination:
The written test is designed to test for knowledge, skills, and/or abilities in such areas as:
1. CLERICAL OPERATIONS. WITH LETTERS AND NUMBERS These questions are designed to test a candidate's visual perception and basic clerical accuracy in working with alphanumeric characters. The candidate is required to read, compare, check, reorder, and count letters and numbers following specific directions for each question. Knowledge of the alphabet and the ability to count are required.
2. RECORDKEEPING- These questions are designed to test a candidate's ability to perform common record keeping tasks. The test consists of two or more "sets" of questions, each set concerning a different problem. Typical record keeping problems might involve the organization or collation of data from several sources; scheduling; maintaining a record system using running balances; or completion of a table summarizing data using totals, subtotals, averages and percents.
NOTICE TO CANDIDATES: Use of a quiet, hand held, solar or battery powered calculator is recommended. Devices with typewriter keyboards, "Spell Checkers.., " Personal Digital Assistants", "Address Books", "Language Translators", "Dictionaries", or any similardevices are prohibited. You may not bring books or otherreference materials.
INFORMATION FOR PROMOTION CANDIDATES
Unless otherwise indicated, the eligible list resulting from this examination will have a duration of four years and will not supersede existing promotional lists, if any.
RATINGS REQUIRED: Test is rated on a scale of 100 with a passing mark at 70. Test instructions may further divide the tests into parts and set minimum standards for each part.
Points will be added to scores of candidates who achieve a passing mark as follows: Seniority: For each year of service in the classified service:
