Principal Civil Engineer

Principal Civil Engineer: The typical work activities include: supervises and participates in all aspects of the Civil Engineering work, in the Highway Division, which involves the planning, design and construction of highways, bridges and other closely allied structures or projects. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner of Public Works. Supervision is exercised over a substantial number of professional and sub-professional engineering and drafting personnel engaged in special studies, survey work, and the design, construction, maintenance, and inspection of bridge and highway projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and six (6) years of experience in bridge and highway engineering work, at least three (3) years of which have been in a supervisory capacity; or: B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and ten (10) years of civil engineering experience in bridge and highway engineering work, at least six (6) years of which have been in a supervisory capacity; or: C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), and (B).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Candidates must be licensed by the State of New York as a Professional Engineer.
