Easy question: Can wrapping paper be recycled?

Answer (not as easy): It depends!

The City of Buffalo has been letting its residents know NOT to recycle wrapping paper, but if you live in another municipality in Erie County, you may be able to put much of your wrapping paper in your recycling cart. Here's what you need to know: You cannot recycle foil wrapping paper or paper with any metallic pieces/flecks. However, many waste haulers are taking the non-metallic paper, so it depends on where your recycling goes once it's picked up at the curb or, in some cases, dropped off.

Bottom line, check your municipality’s recycling do’s and don’ts. Here's a link to check where you can do just that: Municipality Collections

You cannot recycle ribbons or bows, but these items certainly can be reused.
