NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY for COMMUNITY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (CHDO)

Deadline for submission is April 20, 2016 by 4 pm (EST).

The Erie County Department of Environment and Planning is announcing the availability of $350,000 in federal funding from the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME). Funding is set aside for affordable housing development activities in which qualified a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) is the owner, developer and/or sponsor of the housing.


The housing developed with these funds must be located in the Erie County HOME Consortium which includes all municipalities in Erie County, with the exception of the City of Buffalo and Towns of Amherst, Cheektowaga, Tonawanda and the Villages therein.


The availability and use of these funds is subject to Federal HOME regulations (24 CFR Part 92). CHDOs must meet certain criteria pertaining to their legal status, organizational structure, capacity and experience. Eligible set-aside activities include: acquisition and/or rehab of rental housing; new construction of rental housing; acquisition and/or rehabilitation of homebuyer properties; new construction of homebuyer properties; and, direct financial assistance to purchasers of HOME-assisted housing sponsored or developed by a CHDO with HOME funds.


After reviewing the regulations referenced above, interested housing organizations should submit a Letter of Interest to:
