Shelters Available May 1 - October 15; Renters can Check Availability any time before Booking

ERIE COUNTY, NY— The Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry has announced the implementation of a new, online reservation system for County Parks’ shelters as well as for campsites at Sprague Brook Park in Glenwood. The new system, created in-house and at no additional expense to taxpayers, allows potential renters to check the availability of all facilities in the Park of their choice before making a reservation, with an online payment method provided. Every Erie County Park and all shelters and campsites are included in the system, providing ease of access and “live time” reservations for renters.

“For decades, county residents have rented a shelter or site for the day to enjoy time outdoors with family and friends, and now that’s easier than ever to do,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. ““Our Parks system is a jewel, and is one that can be enjoyed even more now with the arrival of online reservations for Park shelters and for campsites at Sprague Brook Park. With warmer weather coming soon, now is the time to plan ahead and reserve a shelter or site for the outdoor fun that’s sure to come.”

Parks Commissioner Troy P. Schinzel added, “I would like to thank the County Division of Information and Support Services for working closely with my department to create this online reservation system at no cost but with great benefits. Shelter information, rental rates and availability, and reservation forms are now just a click away and will make the process much easier for anyone wishing to reserve their spot. It’s all done on a first-come, first-served basis though, so I encourage renters to check it out soon.”

Electronic reservations are not final until payment is received and a permit is issued by the Parks department, at which point reservations are final. Renters are strongly encouraged to check the desired facility, shelter, or campsite prior to making a reservation to ensure it is suitable for their needs. No exchanges or refunds will be given. Shelter reservations are made on a case-by-case basis, while campsites are available from April 1 – November 30 (electric) and April 1 – Columbus Day (non-electric). All parks are open from 7:00 AM – Dusk (winter) or 9:00 PM (Summer).
