The Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry has announced hours of operation and expectations for visitors to Bennett Beach, the only swimming beach operated by Erie County and a popular spot for summertime fun.

The beach will be open every day this summer (through Monday, September 4) from 10 AM – 7 PM. Swimming begins at 11 AM and is permitted ONLY when lifeguards are on duty. The gates to the beach parking area will be locked daily at 7:30 PM.

“Another great summer season is on the way at Bennett Beach, which is a beautiful spot and a fantastic way to spend a summer day,” said Daniel J. Rizzo, Commissioner of the Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry. “We ask all visitors to please respect the environment, each other, and the beach rules so that all may enjoy the beach, and we thank our partners from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Evans Police Department for their assistance in enforcing the beach and park rules.”

Visitors to Bennett Beach are asked to discard all trash in receptacles provided and also to stay out of dunes and protected areas at the site. The park area does not have any shelters but does offer grills and picnic tables.
