Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz and Commissioner of Public Works William Geary today announced that John Dennee has been named Deputy Commissioner of Highways for the Department of Public Works.

Dennee, who was promoted from his previous position as a Senior Highway Maintenance Engineer for the county’s Highway Division, brings with him close to 30 years of experience in the highway transportation and maintenance field, including time spent in different supervisory capacities.

“John Dennee is a great choice for this position because he is a detail-oriented employee with experience and knowledge of the department,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “He is clearly qualified to serve as our Deputy Commissioner of Highways and I look forward to working with John in his new role with Erie County.”

Commissioner of Public Works William Geary said, “John has served our community in the past as an important member of our team. He possesses the necessary skills and experience we were seeking in filling this position and this promotion is well deserved.”

Dennee has worked in the county’s Highway Division since 2014. The Lancaster resident’s professional work history includes positions with the New York State Department of Transportation and the New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Department. His responsibilities most recently with Erie County included planning and coordinating highway maintenance projects and organizing snow removal operations.
