Lackawanna Pastor lauded for his tireless devotion to WNY community and public service during presentation

Erie County, NY – Erie County Legislator John Gilmour (D-Hamburg) named Reverend Mark E. Blue from Second Baptist Church in Lackawanna as his Citizen of the Month for September 2021 at the September 23rd session of the Legislature. A long-time resident of Lancaster, Reverend Blue attended Burgard High School and served in the Air Force Reserves while attending universities to pursue his theological education and career.

Reverend Blue is happily married to his wife Angela and they have two grown sons and a granddaughter.  He is very active in his ministry and the community. He serves as the local President of the NAACP and on the board of Erie County Medical Center (ECMC). He is active in the Lackawanna Ministerial Alliance, the Men in Action Group, and is the President of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Buffalo and Vicinity. He has worked with Buffalo State College on their Presidential Advisory Committee, the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo, and the recently established Vaccine Health Equity Vaccination Task Force to help encourage vaccination in high risk communities.

“It is impossible to list all of the accolades Reverend Blue has received or to fully measure his impact on Western New York. So many of my constituents in Buffalo and Lackawanna have relied on Reverend Blue during trying times; he’s always willing to help and truly exemplifies what we all strive to be, in his generosity and dedication to service. I cannot think of an individual more deserving of this honor,” stated Legislator Gilmour.
