Local Attorney and Hamburg resident takes oath of office to represent the 9th Legislative District in the Erie County Legislature

 

Erie County, NY –Attorney John Gilmour (D-Hamburg) was officially seated as an Erie County Legislator during the first Legislative session of 2020. Legislator Gilmour will occupy the seat formerly held by Lynne Dixon, which includes parts of South Buffalo, the City of Lackawanna, and the Town of Hamburg.

 

Legislator Gilmour, a South Buffalo native who is a partner in the law practice Gilmour & Killelea, credits his many friends and dedicated family for helping him achieve this honor of serving the people of Erie County in the Legislature.

 

Gilmour was sworn in with his legislature colleagues by the Honorable Peter J. Savage III at a ceremony on Thursday afternoon.

 

“I have always been interested in public service, and I believe professional background and service as a community volunteer will enable me to be an effective in advocate for the needs of our community,” said Legislator Gilmour.

 

Gilmour has been assigned as the vice-chair of the Public Safety Committee and the Health & Human Services Committee. Gilmour will also sit on the Government Affairs and Economic Development as a member. “I look forward to advancing good government policies, supporting our partners in law enforcement, and continuing to address important public health issues like vaping and the opioid epidemic,” noted Gilmour.
