Expected blood donation shortage during Coronavirus pandemic identified for entire WNY region

Hamburg, NY - Erie County Legislator John Gilmour has joined with ConnectLife, formerly UNYTS, to sponsor a blood drive at the ConnectLife donation center at the Southgate Plaza in the town of West Seneca (950 Union Rd) from 10 am to 8 pm on Tuesday, April 14th.

The global Coronavirus pandemic has already resulted in the loss of over 1800 units of blood locally. Steady donations throughout even the most difficult times are vital to sustain the need for blood in our healthcare system. First time, younger, healthy donors are encouraged to sign up during this time of high need.

“Blood donation is safe and vital during this time of crisis. I encourage anyone who is able to donate so that we don’t see an additional strain on our local healthcare resources. Helping our neighbors and community members has become even more vital,” stated Legislator Gilmour.

Appointments are required for most of the ConnectLife donation events, and the link to this event and others can be found at their website www.connectlife.org. ConnectLife also offers an organ and tissue donation registry. To make an appointment for this specific event, you can also follow the link on Legislator Gilmour’s Facebook event (@legislatorgilmour).
