Chair Grant, Legislator Hogues Announce Prescription Drug Collection


            Erie County Legislature Chairperson Betty Jean Grant (D-Buffalo) and Legislator Timothy R. Hogues (D-Buffalo) are joining County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz announcing that the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and several other groups will collect unwanted and expired prescription drugs at several locations from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 27.

             People can bring any unwanted or expired prescription or over-the-counter medications, syringes, inhalers, liquids, ointments and patches. People should not bring mercury-containing or radioactive products.

             The collection sites will be: Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, 224 E. Main St., Springville; Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave., Buffalo; Buffalo State College, Lot C, 1300 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo; North Collins Police Department, 10543 Main St., North Collins; Grand Island Town Hall, 2255 Baseline Road, Grand Island; Kenmore Mercy Hospital, 2950 Elmwood Ave., Kenmore; Mercy Ambulatory Care Center, 3669 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park; Millard Fillmore Hospital, 1540 Maple Rd., Amherst; Sisters of Charity, St. Joseph’s Campus, 2605 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga; Twin District Volunteer Fire Company, 4999 William St., Lancaster; West Herr Collision Center, 5140 Camp Rd and Thruway Exit 57, Hamburg; West Seneca Senior Center, 4620 Seneca St., West Seneca.

             The other groups helping collect the prescription drugs are the Erie County Water Authority, Buffalo State College Evergreen, the Expanded Syringe Access Demonstration Program, Covanta Energy and West Herr New York.
