            The Erie County Legislature Public Safety Committee will host a discussion on the current status of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office inmate telephone fund at its 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13, meeting in the Legislature Chambers on the Fourth Floor of Old County Hall, 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo.

            Russell Guthrie of Buffalo, center, a World War II and D-Day U.S. Army veteran, was honored by Erie County Legislature Chairperson Betty Jean Grant (D-Buffalo), left, and County Legislator Timothy R. Hogues (D-Buffalo), right, during the Legislature’s June 6 session to mark the 69th anniversary of D-Day. Mr. Guthrie, who earned the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Purple Heart Medal, landed on the Normandy beaches on D-Day, fought at the Battle of the Bulge and his unit helped liberate the Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps.
