Chairperson Grant, Legislator Hogues Honor BPD Officer Exum for Service

            Erie County Legislature Chairperson Betty Jean Grant (D-Buffalo), left, and Legislator Timothy R. Hogues (D-Buffalo), right, chair of the Public Safety Committee, honored Buffalo Police Department Officer Darren Exum for his community involvement as part of National Police Week at its May 23 session. Officer Exum was specifically honored for his work refurbishing and providing bicycles for Buffalo children who do not have and cannot afford bicycles.

Chairperson Grant Announces Summer 2013 Internship Program Opportunities

            Erie County Legislature Chairperson Betty Jean Grant (D-Buffalo) is seeking six students age 16 and older to serve as unpaid interns for the Summer 2013 semester.

Chairperson Grant, Legislature Commemorate National Nurses Week

            The Erie County Legislature celebrated National Nurses Week at its May 9 session by presenting a proclamation to Karen Ziemianski RN, third from left, senior vice president of nursing at the Erie County Medical Center. From left are: Erie County Legislature Chairperson Betty Jean Grant (D-Buffalo), Legislator Timothy R. Hogues (D-Buffalo), Ziemianski, Legislature Majority Leader Thomas J. Mazur (D-Buffalo, Cheektowaga), Legislator Lynn M. Marinelli (D-Buffalo, Tonawanda) and Thomas J. Quatroche Jr., senior vice president of marketing, planning and business development at ECMC.   

Chairperson Grant, Legislature Honor Buffalo Gateway Show Chorus

            Members of the award-winning Buffalo Gateway Show Chorus, rated one of the top 10 female barbershop choruses in the world, were honored at the May 9 Erie County Legislature session for their winning the blue ribbon at the Lake Ontario Sweet Adelines Region 16 competition in Syracuse; the chorus, led by Director Diane Porsch, performed to an appreciative audience before the session. Among those honoring the Buffalo Gateway Show Chorus were Erie County Legislature Chairperson Betty Jean Grant (D-Buffalo), County Legislature Majority Leader Thomas J. Mazur (D-Buffalo, Cheektowaga), and Legislators Terrence D. McCracken (D-Buffalo) and Timothy R. Hogues (D-Buffalo).
