SEE WHAT ERIE COUNTY GOVERNMENT HAS TO OFFER AT THE ERIE COUNTY FAIR

Daily activities shine a spotlight on Erie County programs during 12-day event in Hamburg

ERIE COUNTY, NY – The Erie County Fair is a summer tradition for many Western New York residents, and this summer will be no exception. Beginning with Opening Day on August 7, representatives from Erie County departments will be set up in the Marketplace Building at the Hamburg Fairgrounds with activities, demonstrations, educational materials and giveaways.

“More than one million people attend the Fair each year, and we welcome the chance to share information about County services with residents,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “This event showcases the best of Erie County – its agriculture, history, businesses and foods. We’re glad to have this opportunity to include Erie County government as part of the Fair’s programming.”

The Erie County Department of Health will anchor the County’s presence at this 12-day event. “Our Community Wellness team has worked with other County departments to build a full and exciting set of activities each day,” said Erie County Commissioner of Health Dr. Gale R. Burstein. “Experienced staff from environmental health, epidemiology, our health clinics, early intervention and emergency preparedness will be available to speak directly to fairgoers and answer their questions on health topics.”

The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, Departments of Environment and Planning, Parks and Recreation, Senior Services, Social Services, and Veterans Services, and the Office for People with Disabilities have a range of activities planned in the Marketplace Building. Check the full schedule on the Erie County Department of Health web site at http://www2.erie.gov/health/index.php?q=erie-county-fair-schedule for details.

Daily activities include Narcan/naloxone kit distribution and training, ReadyErie App demonstrations and sign-ups, and raffles, interactive presentations and games from Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Health.
