Results of Erie County Food Facility Inspections Now Available Online
Reports Sortable by Municipality or Restaurant Name
ERIE COUNTY, NY—Effective today, access to Food Facility Inspection reports from Erie County Department of Health (“ECDOH”) is available through a link on the ECDOH web site, www.erie.gov/health.
ECDOH public health sanitarians’ food facility inspections protect the public health by assuring that food service establishments are operated in a manner that eliminates food safety hazards to prevent foodborne disease and restaurant-associated foodborne illness incidences in our community. There are over 3,500 food service establishments in Erie County
“I wish to thank the members of our Environmental Health Division for their diligent work required to organize and prepare these reports to share with Erie County residents via the internet,” said Dr. Gale Burstein, Erie County Commissioner of Health. “Our ECDOH website has the most up-to-date and comprehensive restaurant and school cafeteria inspection reports available for public review in a very user-friendly format.”
The food facility inspection reports are searchable by restaurant name, municipality or street name. Inspection results can also be sorted by restaurant or school cafeteria name, or by the most recent inspection date. In addition, definitions of what constitutes a “critical”, “non-critical” or “repeat “violation can be accessed.
Burstein continued: “Our reports are available on our website within approximately two weeks of the inspectors’ actual onsite visit, providing the timeliest access to this information. Reports from January 1, 2012 to the present are included.”
All active food service establishments are subject to routine inspections. This includes temporary (e.g., concessionaires) and mobile food trucks with a permanent address in another county that may operate only occasionally in Erie County.
