Erie County Legislator Timothy R. Hogues (D-Buffalo), chair of the Finance, Management and Budget Committee, appreciates the information received from and questions answered by the staff of County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz and county departments during this week’s 2013 tentative county budget hearings.
Legislator Hogues is reminding the public that the County Legislature’s annual budget hearing will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, November 19, in the Legislature Chambers on the Fourth Floor of Old County Hall, 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo. The public and media are welcome to attend.
“Throughout our budget hearings, we received extensive verbal and written reports from department leaders, fiscal managers and elected officials on the wide range of programs, methods of funding and projections of costs, revenues and activities for the county executive’s 2013 budget proposal,” Legislator Hogues said. “As legislators, we must deliberate on this proposal and decide on a spending plan that will fund all necessary services and projects and do so in as efficient and productive manner as possible, always keeping in mind the taxpayers of Erie County and asking our departments to often do more with less.”
“I bring my concerns and goals as a legislator, chairman of the Finance, Management and Budget Committee, as well as those of a taxpayer, husband, father and concerned citizen with me on all of my deliberations,” Legislator Hogues added. “I ask all of the legislators to bring to an open-minded approach so we can develop the best budget possible. I also urge residents to attend our public hearing November 19 and to contact their legislators with their thoughts on the 2013 tentative county budget.”
