2014 Immunization Conference Planning

Conference agenda reviewed, speakers and event times are all agreed upon. Save the date flyer passed for review and will be posted on website.  Agenda activities for conference will be on cardstock. Karm has signed licensed permission to show film Invisible Threat at May conference. Bev reviewed criteria for nominees of the Dr. Judelsohn award. Dr. Gail Burstein was discussed as a nominee. Group will submit nominees and vote at March meeting.  Will send brochure and tax ID to Paul and Chris, as requested.

Vaccine Safety Coalition

No report available.

Vaccine Puzzle  

One minor change needed to be made and will be ready to post for use next month.  Thank you Lacie for all your hard work!

Discussion of Adolescent puzzle resulted in using the available resources from the CDC website and will post on the coalition website

Resource Document

Karen will update (travel) clinic resource document ECDOH uses. Will also add vaccines given at local pharmacies, and post on websites.

Reminder 2014 work plan due 2/14.

Flu is wide-spread.

First case of Avian flu was confirmed.

State wide immunization conference to be held in Latham, NY on 3/18 and 3/19. 

Finger Lake coalition conference agenda passed around to group for viewing.

Introduction made by the new Immunization Program Manager for the state.

Erie County: Undergoing State Consolidated Review this wk. Will attend auto show and offer flu vaccine. Wrapping up work plan. Karen to speak at State conference regarding congenital rubella.

Niagara County: Offering free MMR and Tdap received from state for under and uninsured. Had flu clinic at Community Mission. Very busy with travel vaccines. Scheduling AFIX for Tuscarora Indian Reservation.

Genesee County: Staffing changes addressed, and requested direction from state regarding AFIX forms in CoCasa

Orleans County:  Had questions for state regarding VFC visits and training for new CoCasa forms. Paul LaDouceur will find contact person for direction in this matter.

SUNY at Buffalo: Seeing a lot of flu (A-type), as she reports Canisius College is as well.  Having trouble obtaining yellow fever vaccine for students traveling.  

Passport Health:  Still giving flu

MedImmune: not present

GSK: No supply issues

Merck: All Merck vaccines are in full supply      

Novartis: not present

Pfizer: Prevnar 13 ‘all good’                                                                                                         

Sanofi: Pentacel supply, for the most part, back on track. Pre-booking already for 2014-15 flu season.

New 2014 Immunization Schedules are out - can copy from the CDC or IAC (immunize.org) websites.

Discussed several locations for coalition meeting to be held at, if and when we can no longer meet at IH/Essjay site. Possible sites included 608 William, CCRC, UB 2nd floor conf. room, and Lacie to inquire about availability at Cross Pointe.

State wide immunization conference to be held 3/18 and 3/19 in Latham NY. Bev to speak at re: coalition.

Pertussis Toolkit to be updated.
