Finance and Management Committee Chairman disappointed County Executive wasted $406,650

Erie County Legislator Joseph Lorigo, Chairman of the Legislature’s Finance and Management Committee, has released the following statement after learning that the County Executive borrowed through the county, instead of the Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority (Control Board), wasting $406,650:

"I'm disappointed the County Executive refused to heed the request of the Legislature to borrow through the Control Board and save taxpayers’ money.  As a result, taxpayers will spend more than $406,000 in interest costs that were completely unnecessary. The common sense approach to borrowing should always be to choose the most cost effective option and the County Executive completely ignored this opportunity to save significant tax dollars,” said Legislator Lorigo.
