Funding approved to repair Elma bridges, repair roads in West Seneca

Erie County Legislator Joseph Lorigo announces that work will begin on the Girdle Road and Jamison Road bridges in the Town of Elma this year. At a special session held on Thursday, April 23, 2015, the Legislature approved more than $29 million for road work, including $2.2 million for the Jamison Road Bridge and $1.8 million for Girdle.

“I’m happy that we approved the $29 million funding package today, which includes an additional $8 million that will allow a number of much-needed projects to finally move forward. We have a lot of work ahead of us and getting started as soon as possible is in the best interest of taxpayers,” said Majority Leader Joseph Lorigo. “There are several significant projects in the district I represent that are included in the funding list.”

The Majority Caucus called the special session to expedite the process and ensure that projects could begin as soon as possible.

Majority Leader Lorigo also notes that repairs will be done in the Town of West Seneca, including Seneca Street from Union Road and Orchard Park Road; Fisher Road, from Orchard Park Road to the Lackawanna City line; and Langner Road, from Ridge Road and Fisher Road.

Legislator Lorigo will continue to update residents on the timeline for road work once start dates are scheduled. He reminds motorists to use caution in work zones, slow down and abide by all posted signage to keep crews safe.
